Goodbye Monroe

Goodbye Monroe
Monroe was at the vet today and we decided to give her one last try to rebound, and switched antibiotics and cleaned her up. Well, Monroe decided she was ready to leave.

Tonight after we returned home from the vet’s office, Monroe passed away as I told her what a great goose she was, and that it was okay to go.

Go on, goose. Your Cowboy is just fine. You got him all taken care of and now you can go. Safe travels and thank you for being such a beautiful goose. I’m so sorry we couldn’t do more for you. I know you tried your hardest, even though it was hard.

Rest in peace, Monroe XOXOX

  1. Those darn people and their dogs. We have the same problem at our lake, too. I hope I never see this happen to any of the ducks and geese there.

  2. If I can type thru tears you’ll know how sorry I am &grateful for you. Soft hug.

  3. I’m in tears over your loss as well over how much love you gave a creature that was abandoned, hurt, and hopeless. For an all too short part of her life, you gave Monroe hope. I feel sorry for Cowboy. I hope he’ll be ok.

  4. I’m so sorry. Thank you for letting her know that she was loved and giving her dignity at the end of her life. I didn’t know her for very long but I will miss her.

Rest in peace, sweet goose. Hep hep.

  5. Oh, I am sorry. How wonderful that she did have good care at the end and especially that she and Cowboy were able to talk to one another after her injury. It’s just too bad that someone abandoned them at the park and that someone allowed their dog to run free also. So many mistakes, costing a beautiful goose her life.

  6. That was a lovely tribute you wrote for Monroe and lovely comments from your friends. Animals are so precious and innocent.

  7. I am so very sorry for you. Dear Monroe is out of pain and you will no longer have to go to such lengths to help her. I ache for you.

  8. Tiff, I couldn’t be any more sorrowful about Monroe’s death, and I know you feel the same. May her memory be a blessing to you.

I want to thank you for all the heart, soul and effort you put into helping Monroe, for giving her the absolute best chance to recover and stick around, and for being with her as she left, letting her know she was loved. No one could ask for more.

    Love and hugs,
    Lynda

  10. 🙁 So sad…

  11. So sorry that Monroe couldn’t be saved. But she’s done with suffering and you did your best for her. Peace.

  12. So sorry to hear that Monroe didn’t make it. It is always hard to lose a friend but I know that you did your best to save her but perhaps it was just her time. She was very fortunate to spend her last days with such a loving family and to be truly cared for!
    Hugs,
    Jenine

  13. My eyes are leaking….. I am glad Monroe knew she was loved and cared for during her last days. Your care allowed her to die with dignity and as much comfort as possible — a far cry from the death she would have suffered had you not intervened. Thank you for showing her mercy and compassion.

  14. Tiff – your willingness , dedication, & love for animals who need you in their desperate time continues to amaze and humble me. You are amazing.

  15. Darn so sad. At least you didn’t have to make that decision yourself. I’m thankful that Cowboy was caught and now in his awesome forever home where he won’t have to be concerned with dogs. Thanks for all you did Tif to help Monroe.

  16. Poor goose, thanks for helping her.

  17. Monroe died knowing what it felt like to be loved. There is no better way to enter the next world than to do so unafraid.

    Bye Monroe!

  18. I am so sorry to hear Monroe passed. My dreamer nature says she knew her Cowboy was safe and it was okay to go now.
